As for young people, they have the skills, creativity and willpower to shape the future and implement our sustainable economies.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5bffd0b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5bffd0b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Despite significant efforts to achieve gender equality, women are underrepresented in Sri Lanka\u2019s political and public decision-making. Female workforce participation is approximately half of men\u2019s and only 26 per cent of total female workers in the country are employed in the industrial sector. Yet, it is estimated that equal participation of men and women in the economy has the potential to add up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/featured-insights\/gender-equality\/the-power-of-parity-advancing-womens-equalit y-in-asia-pacific\">$20 billion<\/a> to Sri Lanka\u2019s GDP. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifc.org\/wps\/wcm\/connect\/c6cbb7b1-54e5-44f1-893f-6deae41440dd\/The_Case_Gender_Diversity_Among_Sri_Lanka_Business_Leadership.pdf?MOD=AJPERES\">The World Bank<\/a> points to the deeply entrenched patriarchal societal norms of female gender roles as one of the primary challenges to having a more gender equal workforce in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve the clean and sustainable energy future and economy the country needs, women and youth must be at the heart of every aspect of our work. A minimum target of 40 per cent women participation will be pursued.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"far fa-dot-circle\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">Involve in project steering committees and technical working groups stakeholders specialized in promoting gender equality and youth empowerment<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"far fa-dot-circle\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">Include and support women and young entrepreneurs owned SMEs enabling them to grow their
